Jimmy Kimmel does delivers a topical, clean and film-focused Oscars.

What a pleasure to have a safe pair of hands in #JimmyKimmel hosting #TheOscars. I know he's done it three times before, but he's a consummate professional. His show is an integral part of the press tour for many of these films and actors, so he's actually, ahem, watched the movies, which helps enormously.

Being a comedian and being a good tv host are quite different skillsets I think, so for an awards ceremony like this I think it's important to have a funny TV host, instead of a comedian who can present (although I did love Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes, but it was definitely of it's time). Kimmel's jokes are considered and touch the line but never cross it, and it allows for everyone to have a great time, instead of cringing in their seats.
